Happy New Year! ( And Belated Merry Christmas)

I just got back to California after a week in Chicago visiting family for the holidays. I had a wonderful time and I am a bit sad to be back home. I had a great Christmas with many very nice gifts. For those of you that care, I received: 4 gig nano Ipod, The Complete Calvin and Hobbes, The Muppet Show 1st season DVD, A few manga books, and some gift cards. Not bad eh?

I can't believe it's 2006 already... 05 went so very fast it's kind of scary. Anyway, lets take a look at 2005's resolutions and see just what I accomplished...

1: Lose Weight
2: Get published or at least submit something to be published...
3: Figure out if California is right for me

The first one is easy... it didn't happen due to lack of motivation on my part. So this resolution still stands as one needing to be accomplished. But that is gonna change, partly due to my new job. You see, after work I sit in LA traffic for 1 1/2 hours waiting to get home. Why the hell should I do that? I could use that time doing something constructive. So I have joined a 24 HOUR FITNESS that is approx 5 miles from work. Everyday, instead of sitting in traffic, I'm gonna spend that 1 and 1/2 hours working out, killing the time while the traffic disappears. (I've tested this theory, and it works great. After working out, it only takes me 30 min max to get home). I have to do this, it's going to start affecting my health if I don't. It's gonna be hard and painful, but I have to do it.

Number two was completed halfway. I submitted but was not published. But I only submitted 4 stories and that's it. That's not good enough. On top of that I haven't written anything in over a month. That's plain terrible and I'm ashamed of myself. I also haven't drawn anything in over a month. I could make excuses but I'm not gonna... This is my fault all the way. So this resolution also still stands.

Number three is vague to say the least. Something great happened this year. I found a job here in Cali in my degree field. I'm so happy about that and I am determined to do the best job I can there. But just because I found that, does that make Cali right for me? I'm not sure. I haven't made any real friends I can hang out with. I did join an Anime Club (which is great and I really enjoy) but they only meet once a month. So to put is simply I'm very lonely... Is Cali right for me? I still honestly don't know.

So on to this year:

2006 Resolutions!!!

1. Lose Weight! (See above plan for details on how I hope this will be accomplished)

2. Write and Draw More (I must write at least 4 pages and draw one picture every week. This blog will be a record of my progress from now on. The drawings will be posted here and on Anime FanArt's Journal)

3. Get Published (I will submit no less than 2 stories every month, starting now)

4. Make Friends and have Real Life relationships as opposed to virtual ones (As much as I love my MMO... it's killing my social life. I must find a way to do both.)

So there we are... a bit more specific than last years and complete with plans to accomplish each one (Except #4). BTW I could use any motivating and cheering I can get. Also open to suggestions!

Thanks for listening.

I think you've accomplished a lot in a year. Just keep up your steam!

As for friends, I would recommend just going on the occasional "adventure" as I call them. You just pick a series of destinations and let your curiosiy drive you about. Go to places where your libel to meet people with similar hobbies as yourself. Just start up conversations with people.
